The icon of the Astra Militarum
The Zenonian Free Companies are regiments of the Astra Militarum raised from the world of Zenon. The Zenonian Free Companies recently committed 9 companies in the defence of Cadia and its surrounding star systems in the Cadian Gate from the Forces of Chaos under the command of Abaddon the Despoiler and his 13th Black Crusade in 999.M41.
They were commended for their actions during the Defence of the Disean Line and were instrumental in aiding Lord Castellan Ursarkar E. Creed's Long Retreat, which allowed the Imperial defenders to make their final stand against an offensive led by Abaddon himself before the fall of Cadia. Little else is known about them in current Imperial records.
