  • Genetically altered astrate or not that piece of power armor is heavy for its build as the sheer weight of it would slow any solider to a crawl not to mention conducting any form of ambush would be next to impossible if the enemy can hear the sound of your footsteps from a quarter of a mile away.

As much as I love the Warhammer 40K universe and fascinate myself in its rich lore, I have to wonder to myself "Damn that looks uncomfortable to sleep in" honestly speaking here even with badass power armor you'll be giving up stealth,Speed and flexibility for additional protection.

I don't know if what I am saying here is crazy but that power armor would only serve the purpose of resisting some Ballstics as well as a few melee encounters but a fight against Daemon forces nah bruh not unless your a Primarch.

    Alpha Legionary

    Looks heavy and loud

    Betrayers of pain

    • depends on the type.. alas it is often noted that space marines move faster than hhumans depsite wearing a ton of armor and that some chapters are very very ssilent (raveng uard) ^^  that depends more on the type of armour and the way it is calibrated

alas as for sleeping: marines do not care, they can simply shut off half their brain at a time

Meh, still they give up stealth for more protection

    • @Reborn: reading the wiki will help you clear your thought.

A Space Marine does not need to be "stealthy" as we think it our present day. If you have to sneak into a palace and kill someone you send an assassin.

Scouts and snipers are new recruits and don't wear full power armor. You will use them to scout the battlefield or gater infos.

Space Marines has various implants, and the Omophagea allows them to... "gain part of an individual person's or creature's memory by eating its flesh. This implant thus allows a Space Marine to literally "learn by eating."  It is a lot more efficent method than crouching around and use your eyes and ears to know things.

More, the Space Marine Power Armour is all but just a layer of metal to absord "few" ballistic or melee attacks.

      - It enhances (not encoumber) the Marine movements, keep him fast and balanced.

      - It protects the Marine from all the dangers coming from  planet environment (not all planets where Space Marines fight are terra-like) and the vacuum of space (just in case).

      - It helps to heal wounds and all other sorts of damage the Space Marine suffers, during combat or after for quick recovery.

Considering that melee scenarios are common in 40K as well as long range engagements, you know why having a super resistant armour, that makes you faster, stornger, more balanced and can absorb tons of damage while healing and protecting you is a huge asset.

And when you are in messy situation or you need to fire your weapons quick and efficently, is the Power Armour that hosts the Auto.System: a fully integrated tactical targeting and threat analysis system.

Considering all of this, calling a Space Marine in full power armour "clumsy" is the opposite of truth. And by the way, Space Marines knows perfectly how to move silently and conceal themselves in the battlefield if needed.

All of this is hard to imagine looking at the "canon" image of a Power Armour. If can help, imagine them like this, instead of the images you posted:

    • (sorry about the previous comment but I couldn't delete it)

It would actually be quite comfortable to sleep in because it's climate-controlled and moulded to the shape of your body. I've worn actual ceramic plate body armour for months on end and aside from the sensation of the weight pressing down on your chest as you lay on your back (something that wouldn't be an issue in Power Armour),  it's actually more comfortable than just laying on an uneven surface.

It's a different IP, but in the book Starship Troopers, the main character describes sleeping in power armour, saying that he just lays down wherever and goes to sleep without any discomfort.

    • Power armor acts in a way like a prostetic because it has "motors" that anticipate and enchance the wearer's movements and this is great because SM have black carapaces that interact with the armor directly, the problems that SM armor have is not that it is cumbersome or whatever but it very unrealistic no matter how you put it ,cooling sistems , recycling stations inside the armor mecanical muscles and a few other features, where do you fit all that and still retain armorplates thick enough to stop enemy fire + how the f... is it powered if they can fit a tiny nuclear powerplant in there (as the wiki states) then you could simply take some lighter armor and give every sm iron halos and be done with it but hey this is fantasy so yeah sm armor is the best armor there is

Now when I think about it there is a way to get used to the power armor after all also did anyone see that dawn of war 3 trailer on YouTube.

Sounds off topic I know but just curious if anybody has responded to that footage yet.

    • There isn't any information on the Mark IX power armour, why is this? Is it that this mark was a failure or is it because it's still in the prototype phase or something. I would figure that the Mark IX would be close to the Mark X but not as unique as the Mark X. Also would the Mark IX be worn by the original Astartes or could it be worn by just the chapter masters of each astarte chapter?  If the orginal Astartes were to wear the Mark IX than they would be closer to the power of the Primaris astartes, right?
