The Horus Heresy Vol.II - Visions of Darkness is the second of four art books packed with pictures based on the Horus Heresy. With text that reads like a history of the Heresy written by Alan Merrett, the book includes artwork from such artists as Adrian Smith and John Blanche, including some of John Blanche's concept sketches. Visions of Darkness details the Fall of Prospero, The Battle of Calth, and the Signus Campaign among others. Visions of Darkness, along with the other Hours Heresy art books were later included in The Horus Heresy: Collected Visions omnibus, and again in its re-release Visions of Heresy - War, Darkness, Treachery and Death.

For many years, the pre-history of the Warhammer 40,000 universe has been cloaked in mystery. Now, at last, in these four companion volumes we can reveal the true tale of the dividing of the Imperium, the treachery of the Emperor's most loyal son, Horus, and the fall of many of the Space Marines under the sway of Chaos. Stunning art and apocalyptic text combine to tell the legend for the very first time. A must for all who want to know more about the dark and sinister past of the Warhammer 40,000 background.
