"The Janus 6th has pressed deep into enemy-held territory, securing a monastery dedicated to the Holy God-Emperor. Even as we go to press, they crush all remnants of the PDF that seek to oust their successful beachhead in Solthane."
- —A publication of the Eagle & Bolter, prior to the complete destruction of the Janus 6th regiment.
The Remnants were a mortal Chaos warband of the Lost and the Damned dedicated to the service of Nurgle who were once the Planetary Defence Force of the Shrine World of Kathur. When that world was overrun by Plague Zombies, the Kathur PDF's surviving members turned to the service of the Plague God.
Despite their unkempt appearance, still donning their filth-ridden PDF uniforms, Remnant forces were relatively well equipped. They boasted a number of snipers, heavy weapons teams and were well stocked with a variety of explosives.
This allowed them to completely wipe out the Janus 6th Regiment of the Astra Militarum, who had been sent to recapture Kathur's desecrated cathedral as part of the campaign known as the Reclamation of Kathur.
Unfortunately for the Remnants, they were unable to defeat the assault of the Cadian 88th Mechanised Infantry. Even with the added assistance of the Heretic Astartes of the Death Guard, most of the Remnants were lost to the Cadians' assault, which was bolstered by the elite Kasrkin of Strike Team Cruor and led by the famed Warden-Captain Parmenion Thade.
