The Fenrisian sigil of the Deathwolf, commonly used as the badge of Morkai.
Morkai, also called the "Deathwolf," is the wolf-god once worshipped by the people of the Death World of Fenris who is still a popular character in their myths and legends. The image and mythology of Morkai is also commonly used in many of the ceremonies and rituals of the Space Wolves Chapter.
Morkai is said to possess two heads, which is why his sigil and all representations of him are always double-headed. Morkai is believed to be both the god of death and the guardian of the Gates of Death.
In Fenrisian mythology Morkai is said to have many fell lieutenants, such as Blackmane, the "Howler of the Dead," a massive Fenrisian Wolf blessed with supernatural powers who is capable of raising the dead from their graves with his mournful calls.
In legend, Morkai and all of his kin were defeated by the Primarch Leman Russ, the Wolf King, in Fenris' ancient past. In this myth, after his defeat by the primarch, Morkai became Russ' loyal, two-headed companion, and now he guards the lowest hall of the dead.
