The Moebian Regiments are the regiments of the Astra Militarum raised from the worlds of the Moebian Domain in the Segmentum Solar, though the majority call the domain's capital Hive World of Atoma Prime home.
Regimental History[]

Guardsmen of the Moebian 21st were among the first Loyalist forces deployed by the Ordo Hereticus under the command of Interrogator Iven Rannick into the lower levels of Hive Tertium that had become corrupted by the Admonition and the Traitoris Militarum of the Moebian 6th Regiment.
The Moebian Domain is highly loyal to the Emperor and the domain itself is considered a significant tract of Imperial space. The Moebian Domain is a fiefdom comprised of several important worlds, loyal to Terra and ruled over by the Lord Margrave of the domain's capital Hive World of Atoma Prime, who serves essentially as its sector lord.
The domain can be considered a province or a self-governing state of the Imperium. It pays its tithes and taxes to Terra, it obeys Imperial law, and its worlds manufacture vast quantities of strategically important goods for the Imperium. It is thus highly important to the Imperium and must be defended from assault by the Emperor's foes, whether they be within or without.
Unfortunately, the Moebius Domian borders several disputed territories of Wilderness Space called the "Fringe" that contain multiple xenos and Chaos threats. The Adeptus Administratum ensures that for the average citizens of the domain the nature of that threat remains a mystery. It is just called the "Darktide," a shadowy threat that must be kept at bay if the people of the domain are to remain in the God-Emperor's light.
It is to protect the domain from the Darktide that the Moebian Regiments of the Astra Militarum are raised, mostly from the teeming populace of Atoma Prime but also from several of the other worlds of the region. The Moebian Regiments have for centuries been fighting an on-going conflict known as the Fringe War against the Darktide.
The young people recruited to these regiments have no idea where they are being sent, or what they will face. They are as ignorant of the "Darktide" as any other regular citizen, for they were all once citizens themselves. They quickly learn otherwise.
The galaxy is not a friendly or safe place. There are brutal horrors out there -- xenos species, alien predators, and worse -- who want nothing more than to extinguish the fluttering flame of Human civilisation. Out on the Death Worlds of the Fringe, the guardsmen of the Moebian Regiments, called "lasmen," are thrown into the meatgrinder and come face to face with unimaginable danger. In time, their world-view changes. They learn the nature of the Darktide and fight it tooth and nail.
Sometimes, they learn too much.
Long tours result in trauma, both physical and psychological. Some lasmen are broken by the experience. Some are made bitter and resentful that the gruelling combat they experience is generally unrecognised back home, because the Administratum tends to keep all details of the ongoing conflict quiet so as not to generate public alarm. There might be a few news broadcasts about "great victories," but the rest of the turmoil is screened by propaganda.
Some troopers, of course, serve brilliantly and bravely, and remain loyal despite everything they experience. But others fall prey to the insidious touch of the Darktide. They encounter the malevolent effect of the Warp, and it changes them. They become -- literally, in some cases -- the very thing they are fighting against.
The Moebian 6th Regiment was seduced by the creed of the Darktide and the lies of the Chaos God Nurgle, and they now seek not simply to kill and exact vengeance for what they endured in the battles of the Fringe War, but to share the dark "truth" they have uncovered. They truly believe they have seen the light offered by Chaos, and that the dark ways they have discovered are far better and more liberating for Humanity than the stagnant rubrics of the Imperium. They now seek to share that truth with every living soul on Atoma Prime and they will slay without remorse any who seek to stop them.
In the Era Indomitus, the Chaos Cult called the Admonition infested the hive city of Hive Tertium on Atoma Prime. When they unleashed a Zombie Plague and a swarm of Poxwalkers began to assault the lower reaches of Hive Tertium, the Moebian 6th was redirected from frontline deployment to assist in combating the Nurglish corruption. Instead, the corrupted regiment turned on the people it had sworn to protect and began to support the uprising.
Regimental Organisation[]
The Moebian Regiments refer to their guardsmen as "lasmen." The Moebian Regiments possess many different units and specialties. They maintain units of fierce melee shock troops, usually called "commandos," who excel at close range and hand-to-hand combat. They also maintain several armoured regiments, outfitted with Leman Russ Tanks and the other armoured vehicles produced by the famed manufactoria of Atoma Prime.
The Moebian Regiments maintain units of Storm Troopers, snipers, flame-troopers, demolition units, and Heavy Weapons Squads. They possess all the needed specialties an armed unit needs if it wants to take down an Imperial world.
Notable Regiments[]
- Moebian 2nd Regiment - Corporal Vesmin holds the Moebian 2nd's record for long range kills. She, in turn, offers the credit to the God-Emperor's favour, as a soldier should. The Moebian 2nd is also known for its strict discipline, as empitomised by Penance Regulation XXXIII of the regiment which states, "Punishment for loss of helmet: twenty lashes with a gloh-whip and latrine duty for eight cycles."
- Moebian 6th Regiment (Traitoris Militarum) - The Moebian 6th Regiment was a Moebian Regiment recruited directly from the populace of Hive Tertium on Atoma Prime and long heralded as the toughest and most decorated among its fellows. The Moebian 6th was celebrated by the citizens of Atoma Prime as their greatest guardians and heroes. Unfortunately, the regiment fell to the corruption of Chaos while it was serving in the Fringe War, becoming a Traitoris Militarum force. It was redirected from frontline deployment to help put down the Zombie Plague and uprising of Poxwalkers initiated by the Chaos Cult known as the Admonition on Atoma Prime. But the Moebian 6th turned Traitor and embraced the creed of Nurgle, the Chaos God of disease and decay. They now seek to aid the Admonition by spreading Nurgle's dark faith to all the people of Atoma Prime, and eventually, the entire Moebian Domain. Among the Moebian 6th's battle honours were the Battle of Nox Secundus and the storming of the fortified front of Lochsby.
- Moebian 8th Armoured Regiment - The Moebian 8th was one of the regiments that stormed the fortified front of Lochsby during the Fringe War. The famed Ogryn, Tog the Tank-crusher, was once part of the Moebian 8th Armoured Regiment, earning his nickname while fighting Orks.
- Moebian 9th Regiment - The Moebian 9th Regiment has an abnormally large number of Ogryns serving alongside the regiment, likely due to a mistake made by the Departmento Munitorum. But now that the Ogryn are among them, most of the troops in the regiment are too afraid of them to question the arrangement. The Moebian 9th fought in the Fringe War at the Battle of Nox Secundus.
- Moebian 10th Regiment - A common saying in the Moebian 10th is "Heads down, heads on." This is a tongue-in-cheek variation of the common saying amongst most Moebian Regiments of "Helmets on, heads on." The 10th's variant of this saying is likely due to the fact that they wear ragties instead of helmets. However, it should also be noted that most Astra Militarum units generally don't trust Flak Armour to provide much protection, including the helmets.
- Moebian 12th Regiment - The Moebian 12th fought in the Fringe War at the Battle of Nox Secundus.
- Moebian 13th Regiment, "The Stormrangers" - The Moebien 13th is known for their skill as sharpshooters and snipers and they are ideally suited to combat in the many jungle environments of the Moebian Fringe. The Moebian 13th recently repelled an Ork invasion in the defence of Haxorn.
- Moebian 15th Regiment - The Moebian 15th earned many battle honours during the Eve Coronis Campaign of the Fringe War.
- Moebian 18th Regiment - The Moebian 18th is highly experience in desert warfare and fields an attachment of Ogryns among its troops.
- Moebian 21st Regiment - Deployed for an extensive amount of time to the Ocean World of Icron in the Moebian Domain, the Moebian 21st was known for their iconic rebreathers and pale blue fatigues. All of this gear was well-suited for amphibious warfare and experience fighting within the damp, cramped, and run-down hive cities dotting the expansive planet-wide ocean of Icron. The Moebian 21st were on a rare resupply stop on Atoma Prime when routine patrols started to disappear. Soon after, squads found themselves being directed by a mysterious Inquisitorial agent, identified only as Rannick. The Moebian 21st are the only loyal Moebian regiment seen assisting the Inquisition planetside in Hive Tertium against the Admonition cult and the forces of the Traitor Moebian 6th.
- Moebian 22nd Armoured Regiment
- Moebian 31st Regiment - The Moebian 31st served in the Fringe War. Their elite units wear specially-issued commando berets to display their status.
- Moebian 33rd Regiment, "Black Guard" - The Moebian 33rd Regiment, better known as the "Black Guard," are noted for their intense loyalty to House Margrave, the Highborn dynasty that currently rules over Atoma Prime as its planetary governors and the Moebian Domain as sector lords. The current Lord Margrave is the 13th successive member of the house to hold the office of Lord Moebian, ruler of the Moebian Domain. The Moebian 33rd have served as the personal guard of House Margrave's Lord Moebians since the Moebian civil war of the 36th Millennium that saw House Margrave seize the office of Lord Moebian, an office they have held ever since. The troops of the Black Guard wear red bandanas and ragties. The headwear is representative of the unspecified underhive gang they are implied to prefer recruiting from in Hive Tertium. The Black Guard wear black fatigues and armor and also make use of a camofaluge pattern similar to "cityfight" or "jagbeast" in black, grey, and dark blue. As is standard procedure in most Moebian regiments, a Primaris Psyker was once attached to the Moebian 33rd, however her fate is unrecorded.
- Moebian 39th Regiment - The Moebian 39th was one of the regiments that stormed the fortified front of Lochsby during the Fringe War.
- Moebian 51st Regiment - The commanders of the Moebian 51st believe that they shouldn't waste good wargear on conscripts, reasoning that it is more useful in the hands of experienced soldiers.
- Moebian 54th Regiment - The Moebian 54th has fought in many of the campaigns of the Fringe War.
- Moebian 55th Regiment - The Moebian 55th fought alongside the 6th Pyran Dragoons against Aeldari during a war on Megiddio Septima.
- Moebian 71st Regiment - The Moebian 71st achieved fame fighting amongst lava flows during the Diabolus Campaign. It also part in the Ichabod Campaign, fighting alongside the Catachan XII and |Catachan XIX regiments spending almost six Terran months embroiled in vicious close-quarter fighting against a Greenskin horde in a forested warzone.
- Moebian 77th Regiment
- Moebian 81st Regiment - The Moebian 81st fought on the Desert World of Gathadra against Greenskins. During that deployment, the regiment was incorrectly equipped with cold weather gear, which made the campaign all the harder among the sweltering dunes of Gathadra.
- Moebian 82nd Regiment, "The Nighthawks" - The Moebian 82nd, or "The Nighthawks" as they like to be known, specialises in covert operations. They fought in the Fringe War and many of their elite and shock troops are given special-issue berets to signify their status.
- Moebian 83rd Regiment - The Moebian 83rd, 441st and 515th regiments took part in the infamous Aethos campaign. Aethos is a grotesquely hot, humid and unfathomably dangerous Jungle World.
- Moebian 100th Regiment, "Steepleguard" - The Moebian 100th is a regiment raised from the population of the Shrine World of Crucis. The forest camouflage pattern known as "Crucis Nightshade Camo" was made famous in part by the Moebian 100th's participation in a long ago campaign on Messelina Gloriana. Those few foes who survived those battles gained a new respect for the shadows. The Moebian 100th also fought in the Haareus Campaign, where seven regiments -- including the Moebian Steepleguard and the Pyran Dragoons -- defeated a T'au enclave amidst the fire-blasted dunes of the Haareus Delta.
- Moebian 101st Regiment - The Moebian 101st is a Penal Legion raised from a penal colony settled by criminals from all over the Moebian Domain that also has Ogryn convicts attached to it.
- Moebian 110th Armoured Regiment
- Moebian 117th Regiment - The Moebian 117th has several heavily-armoured Ogryn units attached to its complement.
- Moebian 120th Regiment - Recently, a platoon of the Moebian 120th were sent to Sarius III to investigate strange xenos ruins that litter the sulphur deserts. The regiment fought xenos amongst the shifting shadows of those myriad, black structures. Upon their return, all but the most senior officers were mind-wiped on the order of the Inquisition...
- Moebian 133rd Regiment - The Moebian 133rd once utilised attached Ogryn shock units successfully in breakthrough attacks for many standard years until high casualty rates forced the dissolution of these formations. The 133rd's elite Ogryn shock guardsmen sometimes wear berets to signify their status.

- Moebian 138th Regiment
- Moebian 155th Armoured Regiment

- Moebian 260th Regiment - The Moebian 260th's colours are orange and cream-striped armour, considered a brash colour choice. These colours harken back to the underhive gangs the regiment recruits from on Atoma Prime. These underhive ganger colors are particularly associated with the gangs operating in the lower levels of Hive Tertium.
- Moebian 387th Regiment - The Moebian 387th's field trousers feature tapered ankles, a reinforced seat, and extra side stowage. These are favoured for durability and ease of repair, and, although no soldier would admit it, they are remarkably comfortable for an Astra Militarum duty uniform.
- Moebian 441st Regiment - The Moebian 83rd, 441st and 515th regiments took part in the infamous Aethos campaign. Aethos is a grotesquely hot, humid and unfathomably dangerous Jungle World.
- Moebian 455th Regiment - The officers of the Moebian 455th are known for the iconic leather jackets they wear over their duty uniforms. Tough, durable, and just a bit menacing, these black leather jackets are stylish for hive gangers, Imperial commissars, and Astra Militarum officers alike.
- Moebian 515th Regiment - he Moebian 83rd, 441st and 515th regiments took part in the infamous Aethos campaign. Aethos is a grotesquely hot, humid and unfathomably dangerous Jungle World.
