I don't know why you're asking Sereno this, this is something to ask Montonius. I think that all you've managed to accomplished is adding a bunch of short worthless pages to the wiki. It was much better to have one single page for the entire Horus Heresy series than having 20+ short pages.
I was asking Sereno becuase he was online and I wanted advice from somebody. The pages are not worthless, they provide more information than the collaborted page did, and they help to clean up and prganize the page.
I just don't see the point of having 23 pages, with more to be added as more books in the series are released, that are nothing more than a simple paragraph of information that could have all been placed on a single page.
I would like to add that I appreciate most of the rest of the work you're doing.
Sereno, I like what you have been doing. I am willing to try to build the Outcast Dead page with you now. Please lay down the information you have and we will work together to produce the page. Watch closely how I edit what you write and i you don't understand why I change something please ask, as this will teach you how to produce full, complicated pages. You can begin at any time, if you like. Please check the Important Links often while laying down the page so that you hit every requirement, but I will work with you to help you produce the best page possible. Thanks.
The opening of the article needs to be expanded, and contain a short but full synopsis of the entire article. Concentrate on the main points in the introduction. Then provide the full details in the body of the article.
1. I asume you know the page is incomplete. Please complete the story of the Outcast Dead and their journey with Kai Zulane.
2. Spelling. The wiki has a built-in spelling error. While typos always are a problem, there is no excuse for true misspellings. Use the spelling editor in Source mode and look the word up on the Internet if you do not know how to spell it.
3. Do not copy the style of the source you are using for the page. Write in clear, simple prose that explains what happened without copying the more elaborate terms for simple concepts like 'The Great Ocean." That means nothing to a casual reader. Say the Warp when you mean the Warp.
4. Check what I edit and ask why if you don't know as this will improve your work.
Other than that a good first effort. Now complete the page and maybe you can do Zai Kulane's character page next. Thanks.
Hi, I have finished adding material to the Outcast Dead page, now i just needed to read through it and sort out spelling and grammar stuff. You mentioned a while back about me doing the Kai Zulane page. My knowledge of Zulane is limited as i only paid attention to the Outcast Dead when i read the book. If you would still like me to do the Kai Zulane page, i will have to read the book again and take notes, so i wont be able to do start it for a while.
I have already corrected everything in the article up to where you were last night. Yes, read the book and do the Kai Zulane page. Do NOT start the page until you have the entire thing prepared and do it in one shot. No repeat of the way you did the Outcast Dead page, please.
Hi Sereno. One tip I would give you is to please not edit pages piecemeal. Compile all the changes you want to make on one page at one time, and then only edit the page when your reserach is complete, as you wanted to do on the Outcast Dead. It will lower the chance of making mistakes, allow you to better check your work, and most importantly keep us both from having to retread the same ground every day. Thanks.
Your edits are riddled with grammatical and spelling errors that do not meet our quality standards and require extensive editing by me and other contributors. You simply do not yet have the experience to tackle a page of that complexity and depth at this time, particularly as it is one of great importance. I would suggest you spend a lot more time doing page edits and learning our formats until you see that your work is no longer being edited so heavily. That will be an indication that you can try to create a less extensive and complicated page from start to finish on your own in consultation with me. Again, I cannot stress enough that attention to every detail of form and represenation as laid out in our Important Links on the main page is a great starting guide to editing on this wiki. Also, as you have worked so hard at researching the Outcast Dead and have been diligent at editing other pages with useful content, when we do the page I will let you look it over and add any material you feel has been left out. Thanks.
Please do not add pages to categories that I have not approved. Adding a page to the Emperor of Mankind category, which has no other pages within it, is not helpful. Please stick to ediiting pages for content at this time. Thanks.
We need to have a talk about your edits. They are often riddled with spelling and grammatical errors that could be avoided if you would just check your work over before publishing them. Please do so in the future.
That is not the proper way to do a list of that magnitude. First please read all of our Important Links on the main page so that you are fully conversant with all of our formatting and grammatical standards. Then take a look at the similar page on the Lexicanum as a model for the level of detail such a page requires. Please do not copy that page, but that level of completeness is what we would be looking for. I would suggest that you not attempt a project of this size until you have done less complicated edits on the wiki and are more comfortable with our standards and style. Thanks.
I understand that, but I still would suggest you gain much greater fluency in our methods before beginning work of that size, as failure to meet our standards will result in the page's deletion. When you feel ready, we can discuss it further so that you can produce the best page possible. Thanks.
