A Hearthkyn Warrior of the Greater Thurian League wields the man-portable Leagues of Votann variant of the Magna Rail Rifle.
The Magna Rail Rifle, also spelled Magna-rail Rifle, is a powerful variant of the kinetic Rail Weapons used by the military forces of the T'au Empire and the Leagues of Votann. It possesses a longer range and greater stopping power than previous variants of the Rail Rifle.
History[]
Rare magnetic materials discovered by the T'au fleet during the Fourth Sphere Expansion were used to develop this much improved version of the Rail Rifle and the Heavy Rail Rifle since the new materials allowed the weapon's electromagnetic accelerators to generate stronger force with which to fire a projectile. The Magna Rail Rifle is currently deployed as a twin-linked prototype main weapon that has been sized up to be usable by the XV88 Broadside Battlesuit.
The Kin of the Leagues of Votann also make use of the Magna Rail Rifle in a man-portable form that is deployed as a heavy weapon with their squads of Hearthkyn Warriors. The use of the weapon by both the T'au and the Leagues of Votann is likely not a coincidence, as various Kin factions have been known to enter into commercial relationships with the T'au Empire from time-to-time and have provided them with access to their more advanced technologies before, such as Ion Weapons, though what was provided was likely not up to the full Kin standard of the technology.
As the Kin are the likely originators of this technology, their variant of the Magna Rail Rifle is more reliable, more efficient and crafted of better materials than the similar weapon created by the T'au.
