On the Fortress Worlds of Bastion 011 and Bastion 009, with the help of the Legio Atrox and the Legio Saevus, the Unbroken bravely held the line against the gathered might of the traitorous Legio Victorum I and II, the Legio Phasma and the Night Lords Traitor Legion. Despite suffering heavy casualties, no single Maniple of the Legio Adamantus fled or chose to retreat, each Princeps continuing to fight as long as one of its Titan's weapon system was still operational.

The Legio Adamantus is a Loyalist Titan Legion of the Collegia Titanica that hails from the secondary Forge World of Gulgorahd, deep in the Eastern Fringe. Throughout the many centuries of the Age of Strife, the Legio Adamantus valiantly defended the coherent stellar empire Gulgorahd had carved for itself when humanity first conquered the stars, the ceaseless xenos incursions and attacks turning the Legio in a formidable defensive force, a trait which earned them the nickname of "the Unbroken".

Legion History

Upon reunification with the Imperium of Man, the Legio saw limited service with the armies of the Great Crusade, a service that was however rewarded by several battle-honours that all pre-date the dark times of the Horus Heresy. Most noteworthy of these battle-honours is perhaps, the original Imperial Compliance campaign for the world of Istvaan III, where according to records drawn from the Raven Guard Legion, the Legio Adamantus fought with their brethren of the Legio Victorum to first bring Istvaan III into the Imperial fold.

A few decades later, these same two Legios would bitterly clash during the Thramas Crusade as the Legio Victorum had allied itself with the Traitor Warmaster whereas the Legio Adamantus had stayed true to its oaths.

Despite the truly horrific casualties suffered in the early days of the Thramas Crusade - the Loyalist lost nearly a hundred Titans during the defense of Bastion 011 and 009 - the Legio Adamantus is recorded as still being active when the Dark Angels departed the region in 008.M31. However the Legio but does not appear in more recent Imperial records.

Given the truly terrific devastation wrecked upon Gulgorath and its client worlds, it could well be that the Legio Adamantus is still recovering from the losses it suffered 10'000 years ago or has since been destroyed.

Notable Campaigns

  • Istvaan III Compliance Campaign (994.M30) - Fighting alongside the 27th Expeditionary Fleet under Primarch Corvus Corax of the XIXth Legion, the Titans of the Legio Adamantus participated in the initial Istvaan III Compliance campaign. The military forces of the indigenous Istvaanians were highly sophisticated and disciplined, requiring even the mighty Raven Guard to ask for Titan-support. Alongside their brothers of the Legio Victorum, the Titans of the Legio Adamantus crushed enemy resistance into oblivion and were thus rewarded by a place of honour during the triumph of the Redarth Valley.
