An Ironkin Wayfinder, also called simply a Wayfinder, is one of the self-aware, robotic Ironkin citizens of the Leagues of Votann who use their technologically enhanced cognitive powers to safely navigate the voidships of the Leagues of Votann Fleets through the Warp.

Ironkin Wayfinders essentially serve the same role for the Kin as Imperial Navigators do on Human starships, though they protect the organic Kin from any dangerous psychic interactions with the Immaterium.

Role[]

Every Kin voidship captain or "voidmaster" is supported by the specialised Ironkin known as Wayfinders, whose accelerated logic-cores enable them to cogitate probable safe paths through the dangers of the Immaterium without exposing any biological Kin to the dangers of having to interact with the Warp. With support from their bridge crews, these robotic specialists guide their craft through the Warp in a series of "plunges."

These are short, controlled Warp jumps during which the Kin may take the time to harvest energistic skeins from within the Immaterium, or even board Warp-borne space hulks for empyric salvage. Travelling through the Warp in such plunges takes longer than the vast Warp jumps made by the voidships of Humanity, or the risky sprints allowed by the T'au AL-38 Slipstream Module, but it ensures that the Kin arrive where and when they intended almost every time.
