Inquisitors are high ranking members of the Inquisition, the body responsible for ensuring the safety of the Imperium. Split into three main Orders, the Ordo Xenos (Order of the Xeno), Ordo Malleus (Order of the Hammer) and the Ordo Hereticus (Order of the Heretic) the Inquisition is ruthless in tracking down the Imperium's foes and bringing them to justice.

Amount of Power

An Inquisitor can basically do whatever he or she wants, whenever he or she wants, with few exceptions.

An Inquisitor has the power to take any Imperial forces under his command without question, except for Space Marines, which he must ask their Chapter Master for. Such is the independency of the Space Marines that a Chapter Master can actually deny an Inquisitor of what he wants, should the actions they are needed for be deemed unnessecary or unjust, as no one, not an Ork Warboss, not an Inquisitor Lord, not an Officio Assassinorum Temple wants the combined might of an angry Space Marine Chapter standing against them.

Such is their high rank and status that an Inquisitor will often acquire many different artifacts and arcane wargear items throughout their career, which they may keep at their discretion.

Under the right circumstances, an Inquisitor can even subject a world to the horrors of an Exterminatus.

Traitors

Some Inquisitors do things completely out of the question. Some say that the only way to fight the heretic, the xeno, and the daemon, is to use that very thing against them. However, these actions are seen as heretical in the extreme, and as such these Inquisitors are declared Excommunicate Traitoris, forever on the run. If captured, they are executed immediately, and then forgotten, their names erased in all but the memories of individuals.
