The Iliastus Accelerator Cannon is a type of mass accelerator weapon utilised exclusively by the Adeptus Custodes since the time of the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. This powerful weapon was at the cutting edge of new technological and military developments gleaned and field tested during the Great Crusade's two centuries of warfare and was usually deployed on the Caladius Grav-Tank.
Often deployed in situations requiring the heaviest of weapons the Adeptus Custodes could bring to bear, the Caladius Pattern Grav-Tank utilised technologies and systems derived not only from the Dark Age of Technology, but from developments made as a result of the course of the Great Crusade. The Caladius was well-protected and highly manoeuvrable, perhaps the most powerful battleline armoured unit of its size in the Imperium's forces. The principal armament of the Caladius is the double-barrelled Iliastus Accelerator Cannon, an advanced weapon which was to become the precursor to the more mass-produced cannon retro-developed into the armament of the Legiones Astartes Sicaran Battle Tank, which fulfilled a similar role to the Caladius as a high speed armour-destroyer.
