House Hydrax was a household of Imperial Knights that hailed from the populous Knight World of Adrastapol. Colonised sometime during the Dark Age of Technology, after its discovery by the forces of the Great Crusade Adrastapol numbered no less than eight independent Knight Houses of various size.
Initially loyal to the Imperium of Mankind, House Hydrax sided with the Archtraitor Horus Lupercal during the cataclysmic galactic civil war now known as the Horus Heresy. Joined in sedition by their allies in House Medusos, House Hydrax sought to take control of Adrastapol in the name of the Warmaster, but was ultimately defeated and annihilated by an alliance of the Adrastapolian Knight Houses that remained loyal to the Emperor. Led by High King Rhoderic Tan Chimaeros of House Chimaeros, the vengeful Knights of House Draconis, House Minotos, House Manticos, House Wyvorn and House Pegasson expunged all traces of the treachery in their midst, condemning House Hydrax and House Medusos to oblivion, their names and their fate the only things that remain of these once powerful Knight Houses.

However, giving the strong cultural ties all of Adrastapol's Knight Houses maintained with the Hellenic mythology of Old Earth, it is assumed that House Hydrax's arms bore the figure of the many-headed serpent known as the hydra, a legendary creature of fearsome reputation.
