House Grigoris is one of the Navis Nobilite bloodlines of the Imperium. Their service in the Imperial Navy stretches back to the Age of Apostasy in the 36th Millennium, and they are renowned for producing Navigators of distinction. Near the end of the 41st Millenium, however, they were placed under house-arrest due to the traitorous and heretical actions of one of their scions, Kokabiel Grigoris.

Kokabiel's heresy brought shame and scrutiny upon House Grigoris. With the house's susceptibility to corruption called into question, Lord Militant Solomon Tetrarchus of the Achilus Crusade ordered all of its members recalled from active duty and confined to the Grigoris' temporary estate on Carmyn, pending a full investigation by the Ordo Malleus.

Missing Members[]

As of 817.M41 all but three members of House Grigoris are accounted for:

  • Araqiel Grigoris - The status of this Grigoris Novator is currently unknown. Taken into protective custody -- some say abducted -- by an agent of the Ordo Xenos, Araqiel's disappearance weakened the already faltering political position of his house. Puritans within the Ordo Malleus loudly accuse Radical elements of the Ordo Xenos of intentionally sabotaging an ongoing investigation.
  • Azazel Grigoris - Azazel Grigoris is still serving aboard the Might of Terra, an Apocalypse-class Battleship long trapped behind enemy lines in the wake of the assault on the Reach by Hive Fleet Dagon.
  • Penemue Grigoris - penemue Grigoris vanished in the Charon Stars shortly after Tetrarchus' recall order. Intercepted astropathic communiqués suggest she planned to seek out Kokabiel and return him to the Emperor's light.

The Unconverted[]

Not every Navigator brought before Kokabiel Grigoris is a willing convert to his Chaos Cult, the Cyclopean Congregation. Navigators abducted in raids, captured in boarding actions, or traded to the Cyclopean Congregation by crew desperate to avoid their attention, are loath to risk damnation at the foot of a self-proclaimed prophet.

Those who reject Kokabiel Grigoris' offer of "enlightenment" and initiation into the Congregation suffer a fate few planet-bound Humans understand. With a savage twist of his talon-like fingers, Kokabiel rends the apostate's Third Eye, plucking the sensitive organ from the victim's forehead.

Deprived of their Warp-sight and rendered useless in the eyes of the Navis Nobilite, Kokabiel turns these unfortunates free. Some are dropped into Imperial space, mutilated reminders of Kokabiel Grigoris' private crusade. Others are ransomed back to their houses.

The worst of these wander the bilge decks of Kokabiel Grigoris' flagship, the Burden of Revelation, their pitiful cries reverberating throughout the ancient bulkheads.
