The Gyrfalcon Jetbike, or more formally the Gyrfalcon Pattern Jetbike, is a customised Jetbike pattern utilised exclusively by the Agamatus Jetbike Squads of the ancient Legio Custodes during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy eras. More powerful even than the Scimitar Pattern Jetbike associated with the Legiones Astartes, the Gyrfalcon was a heavy design akin more to an armoured one-man speeder than a true Jetbike.
In addition, it augmented its grav-repellor systems with a plasma-thrust motor for huge temporary bursts of speed. The increased power of the design supported not only the heavily-armoured Custodian rider, but also allowed it to mount a powerful Lastrum Bolt Cannon as its on-board armament. It is unknown if this pattern of Jetbike is still utilised by the Adeptus Custodes in the 41st Millennium.
History[]
One of a number of customised grav-skimmer and Jetbike desgins utilised by the Legio Custodes, the Agamatus Squadrons used the heavy duty, plasma motor-boosted Gyrfalcon Pattern as their steeds in battle, which allowed it to mount the formidable Lastrum Bolt Cannon.
The Agamatus Squadrons of the Legio Custodes exploited these war machines to operate both as a rapid response and suppression unit in the field. In this they operated much in the manner of the elite cavalry forces of ancient times, screening the main Legio Custodes force from potential encirclement, reacting quickly to blunt enemy attacks, and hunting down mercilessly any foe which broke and fled before the might of the Legio Custodes, ensuring the utter extermination of the enemy.
