Pestilaan Light Cruiser

Chaos Pestilaan-class Light Cruiser

A Pestilaan-class Light Cruiser of Chaos is a disturbing predator of the Koronus Expanse in the Segmentum Obscurus. The vessel appears bloated and sluggish with tarnished, rusted metal, open sores scattered across the hull and odd organic protrusions. Such appearances belie the power of such a voidship, as its very diseased nature drives the unholy energies that sustain both it and its crew. It is thought that the Pestilaan-class is a long forgotten ancient class of Imperial Light Cruiser, upgunned and armoured at the price of a Light Cruiser's speed. Most of the Pestilaan-class Light Cruisers are thought to be once-proud vessels, now debased into unclean servitude after mutiny or capture by those Forces of Chaos who serve the Plague God, Nurgle.

These vessels are resplendent with the very finest of Nurgle's sicknesses and diseases, to the point where any attempt to enter one is unthinkable. Attempts to board or conduct hit-and-run attacks on this voidship meet with a high degree of failure. The crews of these ships are all infected with horrific diseases. There is a very high percentage that some disease will be caught by the boarding party (usually Nurgle's Rot), and that their ship will suffer a long-term sickness which is highly virulent and difficult to cure -- unless they turn to Nurgle, thus perpetuating the cycle of Chaotic corruption.
