Diamantine is a composite ceramic material used by the Imperium of Man to fabricate weapons, ammunition and some forms of personal body armour. "Diamantine" means consisting of diamonds, or resembling diamonds' molecular structure and is an indicator that some form of industrialised diamond material is used in the ceramic composite.
Known Uses
Diamantine is used to tip standard Bolter ammunition. The standard bullets used by Assault Cannons and other projectiles used by Imperial ballistic weapons also possess diamantine tips. This material replaces the more common metals like lead, steel and tungsten that were used to craft the ammunition for most ancient firearms in the late 2nd and early 3rd Millenniums.
Armour for Imperial forces is sometimes constructed of diamantine, and walls and doors of Imperial facilities are sometimes lined or constructed from it, notably the walls of an Adeptus Astartes Chapter's fortress-monastery.
