Badge of the Dark Angels Legion
The Cytheron Pattern Aegis is a relic force field generator that was used by the Dark Angels Legion during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. It was among the rarest and most esoteric technologies possessed by the Ist Legion.
The Cytheon Pattern Aegis was a creation of the long-lost city of Cytheron on the world of Mercury in the Sol System during the Age of Technology, and the generator was based upon the same force field technology that had once been used by the people of Cytheron to hold at bay the ferocity of Sol itself so that they could live upon the scalding surface of Mercury.
A Cytheron Pattern Aegis generator was available to the Astartes of the Deathwing Companions and once activated the resulting force field could be used protect the individual wearing one or those nearby from kinetic and directed energy attacks for as long as the shield generator did not overload.
