Adeptus Mechanicus Dictator-class Cruiser underway as it pursues a new mission in the Quest for Knowledge.
An Adeptus Mechanicus Cruiser is an Imperial starship that serves as the backbone of the fleet of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Basilikon Astra.
Many belong to the same classes of cruisers already maintained by the Imperial Navy, heavily modified for use by the forces of the Mechanicus.
Adeptus Mechanicus cruisers play a key role in the Quest for Knowledge, where they not only travel into dangerous and uncharted territories in pursuit of new technologies, but must also defend any valuable artefacts or archeotech that they recover.
In order to fulfill this role, the cruisers must be heavily armed and armoured.
Armament[]
Almost all Adeptus Mechanicus cruisers are armed with Macrocannons, Lance batteries, or both.
The Tyrant-class Cruiser, unlike other Mechanicus cruisers, has plasma-based rather than ballistic Macrocannons.
Additionally, some cruisers have Macrocannon batteries or Lance turrets, torpedoes, or attack craft launch bays added to their standard armament.
The Gothic, Lunar, Tyrant, and Dictator-class Cruisers serving with the Adeptus Mechanicus also possess incredibly powerful Nova Cannons. They fire massive, gravitically-impelled warheads that can unleash fleet-consuming plasma explosions, gravitational disruptions or even Warp rifts.
