The lore of the Skaler remains unknow even to the Skalers themselves. But judging from the texts of their old kin, they had once served Slaanesh.
But is it that simple? What caused them to so?
6 million years ago, during the War in Heaven, the Skaler had first drawn breath. How they came to be is yet unknown, perhaps they had just existed out of natural cause, perhaps they were made by the Old Ones in case the Kork and Eldar failed to put the Necron down.
Putting their origin aside, it is clear the Skaler once had their own gods. Perhaps they had made it so the Skaler could have their abilities of hyper evolution. Who these gods were meant to represent is still a mystery. What is known is that they would soon be wiped out by the Chaos god Slaanesh during the fall of the Eldar. With her eating each one, she sent the planet the Skaler had on into the Warp and sent them into slavery.
They would be enslaved for years unknown, exposed to unknown tortures and pains pleasing the Dark Prince. They would live in this pain until out of amusement, proclaimed a gladiatorial tournament. Who ever won this battle would be more then simply her champion. They would be her enforcer. Her will.
The battles that took place were bloody, long and greatly complicated but there only were two in the end that the legend simply calls the Father and the Son. Both the father and the son fought for the ultimate prize but never before had they fought each other until the end. The final battle, the father and the son would face each other. The father made the first move, and placed his blade into the ground. And in response the son placed his blade into the ground.
The son and father went in defiance against not just the wrath of the Dark Eldar and Slaanesh cultists but in defiace of the Dark Prince himself.
Only to be laughed at by the dark god, placing the father under an uncontrollable rage.
This already confusing story becomes varied in its belief. It is unclear whether the father or son won but it was clear one had won and became Slaanesh's enforcer. Though not peacefully so.
Slaanesh would later become paranoid of her enforcer. She had granted him god like powers and he had done everything his master asked of him, though in disliking. To test him, Slaanesh commanded him to destroy his home planet. She watched as he land on his home but it didn't explode. Perhaps he was taking his killing to a personal approach. Or saying last good byes.
But no, he had enough. No more would the enforcer bend to his master. He stood, like in the gladiatorial stadium, in defiance of a god.
Slaanesh tried to take her power back but it didn't return. Perhaps souls, millions of trillions of Skaler souls, stood by their new practical god. Maybe one god of the Skalers had placed a part in him in the enforcer.
Much of this is a mystery. But what is clear is this caused the frustrated god to confront her enforcer. The battle is depicted as intense and destructive but in the end the enforcer failed to defeat Slaanesh. In a last ditch effort he threw his home out of the warp and into the universe. He had completed his mission he had wanted to finish, to save his people.
As punishment, Slaanesh trapped her enforcer under a pillar that infinitely expands in height and weight and to endure tortures that his people escaped from.
With this story, with it's many questions and mystries there is one piece of it that is clear: The enforcer's promise.
"I may endure your punishments and a torture only fit for an immortal like us. But know this, 'your greatness'. I will return from my torment--my prison--and I do, I will end you, maybe all Chaos, and my people will thrive because of it. Now I know this may seem, impossible with my current place, but you should know--my people's tormentors should know--Skalers and people of their word."
Hey guys, this is based off another work I did and I want to know what you guys think! I have been think that this enforcer will return but with due time. Meanwhile on the Skaler home planet I thought that they may begin to be introduced to the universe as a mainly mercenary planet. Mainly with the Tau(I like the Tau), who make plans to bring them into their empire. But what do you guys think? Lore problems? Plot suggestions?
